Does WordBoard support Family Sharing? Yes, here's how to unlock Pro

If someone in your Apple family already bought WordBoard Pro, the rest of the family does not need to buy it again. WordBoard supports Apple's Family Sharing, so anyone in the same family group can unlock Pro on their own device with Restore Purchases.

Quick answer

Yes. WordBoard supports Apple Family Sharing. Once you are set up as an Apple family and one person has bought WordBoard Pro, other family members unlock Pro on their own device using Restore Purchases, at no extra cost. Family Sharing shares the purchase itself, not your saved keys, folders, or templates, which stay separate per person.

What Family Sharing actually shares

Apple's Family Sharing lets a group of Apple IDs share eligible App Store purchases, including apps and many subscriptions. WordBoard Pro is one of them. Once your family group is set up through Apple and one person owns WordBoard Pro, everyone else in the group can unlock Pro on WordBoard without paying for it a second time.

This is different from your own saved content. Family Sharing shares the purchase, not your keys. Each family member's saved keys, folders, and templates in WordBoard stay tied to their own device and their own iCloud, exactly as if they had bought Pro outright.

How to unlock WordBoard Pro through Family Sharing

  1. Confirm you are part of the same Apple family group. On iPhone or iPad, check Settings, then your name, then Family Sharing, or ask whoever set up the family.
  2. Make sure at least one person in the family has purchased WordBoard Pro.
  3. Install WordBoard on your own device and open it.
  4. Go to More, then Unlock Pro Access, then tap Restore.
  5. Pro unlocks on your device once the shared purchase is verified.

See the Family Sharing support article for the official confirmation, and the restoring purchases guide if Restore Purchases does not find anything to unlock.

Family Sharing vs. your own second device

It is easy to confuse two different scenarios:

Scenario How Pro unlocks Same Apple ID?
Your own iPhone and iPad Restore Purchases, no extra cost Yes, same Apple ID on both devices
A family member's device Restore Purchases, no extra cost, via Family Sharing No, a different Apple ID in the same Apple family group

If you are only moving between your own devices, see Use WordBoard on both iPhone and iPad without losing your keys for how to also bring your keys and folders across with iCloud backups, not just the Pro purchase.

FAQ

  • Does WordBoard support Apple Family Sharing? Yes. WordBoard Pro is a shareable purchase, so it can unlock across an Apple family group.
  • Do all family members need to buy WordBoard Pro separately? No. Once one person in the family owns Pro and the family group is set up correctly, other members unlock it with Restore Purchases instead of buying it again.
  • Does Family Sharing also share my saved keys and folders? No. Family Sharing shares the Pro purchase only. Each family member's keys, folders, and templates stay separate on their own device and iCloud.
  • How is this different from using WordBoard on my own iPhone and iPad? Your own devices share one Apple ID, so Restore Purchases unlocks Pro directly. Family Sharing covers different Apple IDs inside the same Apple family group.
  • What do I need before Restore Purchases will work for a family member? Confirm you are part of the same Apple family group in Settings, and confirm someone in that family has already purchased WordBoard Pro.
